Kurina, Two-Sport Standout Signs with HCC
Michael Kurina of St. Joseph, Michigan has signed with Holy Cross College for two varsity sports.
Kurina signed to the soccer team as well as the basketball team with respective coaches Thiago Pinto and Steve Baumgartner.
Kurina has just graduated from Lake Michigan Catholic High School where he excelled in several sports. While in high school, Kurina lettered in football, soccer, basketball, tennis, and track. Under the direction of soccer coach Ed Maher and basketball coach Josh Beckmen, Kurina was All Conference and All District in these two sports.
“Michael has attended Catholic schools since preschool and we are so happy he will have a completely Catholic education by coming to Holy Cross College!” says Johnette, mother. Kurina first heard of Holy Cross through a friend who is a current student and, through learning about the athletic program, decided to attend. “Michael is a perfect example of the expansion of Holy Cross Athletics,” says Holy Cross basketball coach, Steve Baumgartner, “Three years ago we didn’t have varsity sports here at Holy Cross, and here we are now signing Michael to participate in both soccer and Basketball. It’s just incredible.”
