Location
The ceremony will take place in the Pfeil Center on the campus of Holy Cross College. Click here for a campus map. If you will be coming from out of town or having out-of-town guests, see below for hotel information.

Guest Speaker and Honorary Degree Recipient
Guest commencement speaker will be Dr. Richard P. Johnson, Ph.D., PCSG. Dr. Johnson is a nationally recognized spokesperson in the field of retirement and adult development, having written and lectured extensively in those fields. He is a pioneer in Maturing Adult Faith Formation and Spiritual Gerontology and has taught hundreds of maturing adult ministry leaders.

Dr. Johnson is a dynamic, engaging, and compassionate teacher who delights in seeing students grow personally and spiritually. He has written many articles and 18 books all focused upon God's expansive grace in the maturing years.

He is the former president of the American Association for Adult Development and Aging, and the founder of Retirement Options, an assessment, publishing, and training firm offering consultation in mature career/life planning, as well as empowering individuals for the changes necessary in the new information economy.

During commencement the college will honor Dr. Johnson when he receives an honorary Doctor of Humane letters in honoris causa and will be given recognition for his years of service, research, and dedication to helping people lead enriched and fulfilling lives in their second half of life.

Dr. Johnson is a practicing Catholic; he and his wife, Sandra live in St. Louis. They have three grown children and three grandchildren.

Tickets
Each graduating student may receive up to eight tickets for the commencement ceremony. Please contact Jodie Sweet should you require more than eight tickets.

Senior Etiquette Dinner
6:00 p.m.
Siegfried Family Dining Hall
An evening of fun and private dining with all Bachelorette candidates, Department Chairs, and College Administration. Our host, a professional dining manager, will provide a detailed explanation of each stage of our dinner, significant elements of the proper place setting, and various wine choices typical of fine dining. After experiencing this extraordinary dinner, students can feel much more relaxed and comfortable in a fine dining atmosphere typical in many career fields.

5:00 Baccalaureate Mass (all graduates and their guests are welcome)
St. Joseph Chapel

All graduates and their guests are welcome to celebrate Mass with Holy Cross faculty, staff, administration and Board of Trustees. All graduates, Trustees, faculty, and staff wear graduation regalia to the Baccalaureate Mass.

• 4:35 Graduates assemble in the Basil Hall Student Union for robing and line-up.
• ATTIRE-The cap (tassel on the left front) and gown. Due to the barbeque immediately following Mass, formal clothing is not recommended.
• 4:45 Students receiving their associates degree will line up first, two by two. Students receiving their bachelor's degree will line up behind the AA graduates, also in pairs.
• 4:55 Procession begins.

All Holy Cross graduates and their guests are invited to the Graduation Barbeque. Each graduate and two guests may eat at no cost. Additional guests are invited to attend. Tickets may be purchased by contacting Matt Bellina at 574-239-8343 or mbellina@hcc-nd.edu.

• 1:15 p.m. Graduates assemble in the Vincent Lounge (Max) for robing and line-up.
• ATTIRE-The cap (tassel on the left front) and gown.
• Students will line up alphabetically, with the assistance of Registrar, Rick Sullivan and Dr. Watson. Associate degree recipients will line up alphabetically first, with the baccalaureate students assembling alphabetically behind them.
• 1:55 Procession begins. Students will process to the chapel in pairs. Rick Sullivan will marshal students to the appropriate rows inside the Pfeil Center.
• RECEIVING YOUR DEGREE-An usher will release each row of students at the appropriate time. Students will line up, single file to the right side of the stage. When your name is read, cross the stage, take the diploma in your left hand and shake the hands of the President and Chairman of the Board with your right. Exit the stage and return to your row, and be seated. In the unlikely event that you receive the wrong diploma, see Jodie Sweet or Dorene Muszer immediately following the exercises for an exchange.
• ORDER OF RECESSION: The stage party will lead the recession, followed by faculty, baccalaureate graduates, and the associate graduates.
• Baccalaureate graduates will be led as a group to a predetermined location for a group class photo, before disbanding.
• Regalia should be returned to the cap and gown return table located at the reception.
