The Catalog- There are two ways to find items in McKenna Library, our Classic Catalog (Aleph) and our new, enhanced catalog (CatalogPlus). Both systems allow you to search for items in our catalog, and expand your search to include items from the University of Notre Dame, Saint Mary’s and Bethel Colleges (known as the MALC Libraries). Catalog Plus, which will become our primary catalog in August 2015, also allows you to more easily search all institutions at once and to narrow your search by material types (books only, AV materials only, etc.), year of publication, language and other faceted features. Ask a librarian for a tour of CatalogPlus features.
WorldCat – Can’t find a book in McKenna or any other MALC libraries? WorldCat gives you access to the library catalogs of over 10,000 libraries. If you find an item you want, see a librarian about getting that item for you through Interlibrary Loan (ILL). ILL is free (usually) of charge for students and faculty
Subject guide to books – Lost among the shelves? This is a wonderfully handy subject guide based on the Dewey Decimal System, the type of call number we use here at McKenna Library.
