Holy Cross holding event to support Toys for Tots

The Holy Cross College Alumni Association, in conjunction with the Holy Cross College Athletics Department and Student Government Association’s Social Concerns Committee, will host a Toys for Tots event on Wednesday, December 12 from 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. The event will take place in the Pfeil Recreation Center during the Holy Cross women’s basketball game. The Saints tip off against the Blue Devils of Lawrence Tech University at 5:30 pm in McKenna Arena.

Guests who attend and donate a new, unwrapped toy, or make a monetary contribution to the Toys for Tots fund, will receive free admission to the basketball game, as well as be invited to partake in the Santa and the Saints festivities. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be present for pictures and Christmas wishes. There will be cookie decorating, hot chocolate, raffles, and crafts for the kids. All proceeds raised will be used to purchase toys for the U.S Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots campaign.

As a Toys for Tots drop-off location, toy and monetary donations are being accepted at Holy Cross College through Thursday, December 14. The public may contact event organizer and Director of Alumni, Parent, and Community Relations, Adam DeBeck at adebeck@hcc-nd.edu for more information.

Together, with faculty, staff, students, and the community, Holy Cross College seeks to assist the U.S. Marine Corps in their endeavors to help put smiles on the faces of less fortunate children during the Christmas season. All toys and gifts donated at the Holy Cross College location will be provided to children in the Michiana community.

“Partnering with Toys for Tots has become a tradition at Holy Cross, and the generosity of our campus community during this season of giving continues to be humbling,” says DeBeck. “Seeing donations in our toy collection bins this close to final exam week shows our community truly knows how to live our mission of educating minds and hearts. This year we open our toy drive to the public, especially our local alumni, and hope they’ll join us on December 12th for Santa and the Saints.”

The public is welcome to attend.
