Brother John Tryon delivers keynote address
Brother John Tryon, C.S.C., assistant professor of English at Holy Cross College at Notre Dame, delivered the keynote address at the international conference, Emerging Trends in the Contemporary English Literary World, held at Holy Cross College in Agartala, Tripura, India on February 2 - 3, 2013. The title of his address was "Teachers as Awakeners". In addition to the keynote address, Brother John chaired a panel presentation for one of the four "technical workshops" and offered observations from an American perspective in other sessions.
Regarding the address and Brother John's participation, conference convener, Father Emmanuel Kallarackal, C.S.C., President of Holy Cross College in Agartala, e-mailed Brother John Paige, C.S.C., President of Holy Cross College at Notre Dame: "The conference was a huge success and Brother John was excellent. He did very well with his keynote address and chairing of the sessions, and participated very actively throughout the conference. All were very impressed. THANK YOU for sending him to us for the conference."
In addition to his duties at the conference, Brother John had time to visit several primary and secondary schools and parishes conducted by the Congregation of Holy Cross. The welcome he received, wherever he went, included presentations of gifts, performances of ethnic dances, serenades of welcome by students, formal teas and special meals.
