HC welcomes Margaret Gutierrez as a new Board of Trustee member!
Holy Cross College is honored to announce the appointment of a new member to the institution's Board of Trustees: Margaret Gutierrez of Mishawaka, Indiana.
Margaret Gutierrez has dedicated her life to learning and caring for others. Having earned a Certificate in Radiography from Hudson Area School of Radiologic Technologists (Bayonne, NJ) in 1978, Gutierrez went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science degree from Edison State College (Trenton, NJ), and a Master of Science in Pastoral Care and Counseling from Neumann University (Philadelphia, PA). In November 2011 Ms. Gutierrez attended the Synod on Pastoral Care in Vatican City.
"Margaret Gutierrez brings expertise in counseling/pastoral care as well as an extensive career in health care to her service on the Board," said Br. John Paige, C.S.C., President of Holy Cross College. "Her talents will be very valuable as we expand our educational outreach and service to senior caregivers through the Michiana Gerontology Institute at Holy Cross College."
Margaret Gutierrez has over 30 years of work experience in the area of healthcare, beginning as a radiographer with Palisades General Hospital (West New York, NJ) from 1978 to 1995. In 1995 Gutierrez launched a career with GE Medical Systems (Waukesha, WI) where she served as a business manager, corporate trainer, and product specialist for women's healthcare product lines until 2003. Margaret also has 12 years of experience as a program director and tennis instructor with the EHT Recreation Department (Egg Harbor Township, NJ).
Following a call to the field of pastoral care, Ms. Gutierrez served from 2003 to 2011 at the Church of St. Katharine Drexel in Egg Harbor Township, NJ, where she organized and directed the parish's Homebound Ministry, trained and assigned volunteers, and distributed Eucharist.
From 2008 - 2011, Gutierrez provided individual and group counseling for children through adults, and conducted loss and grief support groups at Bridge Counseling Services of Seaville, NJ. During this time, she also facilitated grief support groups, life review groups, faith share groups, and individual therapy for residents of Our Lady's Residence, a long-term care facility in Pleasantville, NJ. Since 2011, Margaret Gutierrez has served St. Joseph Regional Medical Center's (Mishawaka, IN) Outreach Department where she provides educational support to CPE residents, leads faith based retreats, collaborates on community needs assessment, facilitates focus groups, and leads summer programs for inner city youth. She is a Member of South Bend Anti Violence Commission
Throughout her career, Margaret has conducted technologist training sessions throughout the United State. She has worked with multiple philanthropic organizations in developing funding opportunities and has facilitated numerous faith-based retreats. Ms. Gutierrez is a member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Margaret, along with her husband, reside in Mishawaka, Indiana.
Margaret will serve a three-year term and be eligible for reappointment to a second three-year term in 2016.
