Senior Fair — Fun & Free Almost Here!

NOTRE DAME, IN (April 14, 2014) The Michiana Gerontology Institute (MGI) reminds the Michiana area that their first annual Senior Fair will take place soon.

“Anyone who has a parent, grandparent, neighbor, friend, or other family member who is aging, will reap great benefits from this event,” said Malana Maher, co-chair of the organization. “The Senior Fair, which will be held at the Century Center in South Bend on Saturday, May 3 from 9am to 3pm, has more than 70 registered vendors which will feature products and services that can make life better for anyone who is aging...everyone!”

The Senior Fair offers free entrance and free parking at the Century Center during the event, as well as free food samples, free health screenings, free entertainment, and free education. "The ‘fun,’ Maher said, "will be everywhere throughout the day at the Senior Fair."

The sponsors will each offer short educational seminars on topics that concern men and women over the age of 50.

Vendors include physical therapists, pharmacies, chiropractors, travel agencies, senior living options, Area 2 Agency on Aging/REAL Services, banks, vision centers, financial services, attorneys, hearing centers, insurance companies, home health care and skilled nursing services, SHIP (Indiana State Health Insurance Assistance Program), political parties, hospices, ambulance services, Office of the Attorney General, and much more.

“The Michiana Gerontology Institute is very pleased to host this event,” said Pat Adams, co-chair of the MGI. “The Institute exists to support a co-operation between organizations and individuals who serve older adults through education, intergenerational outreach, service, and advocacy. MGI currently has more than 100 members, organizations, and individuals who serve older adults in Northern Indiana and Southern Michigan.”
