Residence and Housing Information

Rooms

Most singles are approximately 10' x 12' and have little room for additional furniture. All assigned furniture must remain in the room. Since double and triples are larger, limited space for some extra furniture may be available. It is recommended that extra furniture not be purchased until after moving in. Each room has curtains or blinds, bed, closet or wardrobe, desk, chair and bookshelf over the desk. Most rooms have sinks. Rooms in Anselm Hall (men), have air-conditioning.

Apartments

Pulte and South Halls consist of four and five bed apartment units. All apartments have two bedrooms, two baths, a kitchen and an unfurnished living room. Apartments are furnished with a bed, desk, chair, bookshelf, and closet for each resident. Air conditioning, window blinds, a range/stove and full size refrigerator are also provided.

Cable Television

Cable service is provided to all resident rooms.

Computers

Each student is assigned and is expected to use a Holy Cross e-mail account. A computer lab is available for all students in Vincent Hall. All residence hall rooms are wired for Internet access. Assistance is provided as needed by the Campus Technology Department for configuring personal computers for Internet use. Choosing between laptop or desktop computers is completely up to each student.

Laundry

Washer and dryer vending is located in the James Hall basement, in Pulte Hall and in South Hall.

Room Assignments

Residents will receive information about room and roommate assignments by August 1st.

Stereos

Speakers with subwoofers are not permitted. Headphones are required of all residents possessing stereos and other sound systems.

Telephone Service

Residents have the option of utilizing telephone service and voicemail provided by the college, or using their own cell phone service. In either case, all residents must have a registered phone number at which they can be reached. Residents using the college phone system may access long distance service through use of student purchased calling cards.
