Santa Claus Is Coming to College

(December 6, 2007) —On Saturday, December 8th, Holy Cross College’s Social Concerns Committee will be hosting a “Lunch with Santa” from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Children who attend will be able to meet with Santa in order to make their last-minute gift requests, decorate holiday cookies, and learn to wrap presents. The student volunteers will also serve a complementary lunch of chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese, and tater tots. All children and their families are invited to attend.

President of the Social Concerns Committee Claire Humphrey says, “This is the most wonderful season and we want to do something special for the children in our community. It is important to share the spirit of Christmas!”

On Saturday, visitors can park in front of the school. The campus entrance is on State Road 933 North, across the street from the WNDU TV studios and the University of Notre Dame Campus. There will be volunteers in the parking area providing directions to this event. Claire Humphrey can be contacted at CHumphrey@hcc-nd.edu with any questions or comments.

Earlier in the day, at 9:30 AM, Holy Cross College students will be holding their annual Toy Parade, an event where student volunteers walk down Holy Cross Way to the WNDU TV studios carrying all the toys they have collected for the US Marine Corp Reserve’s Toys for Tots program. Anyone who wants to donate an unwrapped toy as a gift for underprivileged children can join in the parade, or simply drop it off with the Marine Corp Reserve volunteers at the WNDU TV studio parking lot between 7 AM and 10 AM.
