Holy Cross College Students Prepare Thanksgiving Baskets
For the sixth year in a row the Social Concerns Committee at Holy Cross College has been raising money and purchasing food to put together Thanksgiving meal baskets for families in need throughout the Michiana area.
Each year the Holy Cross College Social Concerns Committee aims to gather more goods than the year before in order to keep their successful Thanksgiving food drive growing. The number of food baskets has grown from 35 two years ago, to 50 last year, and the goal for this year is to have enough food for 60 baskets!
The baskets contain traditional food items for Thanksgiving such as turkey, stuffing, yams, cranberry sauce, canned vegetables, dinner rolls and pumpkin pie. Each basket is filled with $35.00 worth of food.
The Committee is accepting donations until Friday, November 17, 2006. The meals will be delivered on Monday evening, November 20, 2006, starting from the Holy Cross College Vincent Lounge. Checks may be made payable to Holy Cross College with Social Concerns noted in the memo. For more information you may contact Social Concerns President Marc Ortiz at lortiz@hcc-nd.edu.
