Holy Cross College offers a residence life program with the goal of providing a Catholic community which seeks an atmosphere conducive to the intellectual, social, spiritual and moral growth of its residents. Living in the residence halls is strongly recommended, particularly for students who are not from the South Bend area.
The residential program will accommodate 260 men and women, in James, Basil and Anselm Hall dormitories, along with the South Hall and Pulte Hall Apartments. The close proximity of the residence halls to classrooms, St. Joseph Chapel, Pfeil Recreation Center, McKenna Library, Siegfried Dining Hall, Hammes Bookstore, computer lab, and faculty offices provides an ideal collegiate environment for residents.
Men will reside in Anselm, Basil and Pulte Hall and women in James Hall. It is expected that the South Hall apartments will remain evenly divided between men and women. Apartment residents are on a 14 meal/week plan. Residents of all other dormitories are assigned a 19 meal/week plan. All residents participate in food service with a single charge for room and board.
Holy Cross does not enforce a curfew, but does limit the hours at which residents may visit the rooms of members of the opposite sex. Alcohol is NOT permitted anywhere on the Holy Cross campus, nor are students permitted to bring alcohol themed decorations to the residence halls. Holy Cross residence halls provide convenient access to full dining services, a chapel, laundry rooms and comfortable student lounge areas. Individual student rooms are designed to accommodate one, two or three residents and are equipped with bed(s), wardrobe(s), and desk(s). Nearly all rooms have sinks, but very few have private baths. Pulte and South Hall apartments will house four or five students in two bedroom units, with two baths, a kitchen and a living room.
