Returning Students

Thank you for your interest in returning to Holy Cross College.

Applying for Readmission/Reinstatement

The following information pertains only to students who have previously attended Holy Cross College. Students who attended as a guest student, or who were admitted to the college but did not attend, must complete a regular application for admission. Click here to view information about the regular admission process.

Please review the information below and apply for Readmission or Reinstatement according to your circumstance.  To complete the process, you will also need to provide:

  • An essay (follow the instructions outlined on the application). Space is provided on the application page, or you may attach a separate sheet containing your essay.
  • Official College Transcripts from every college you have attended since leaving Holy Cross (if applicable), as well as a Transfer Applicant Personal Record Form from each institution.
  • If you have been away from Holy Cross for more than one year and have not been enrolled at another college or university, please submit a resume that chronicles your work and/or volunteer experiences since leaving Holy Cross.

Once all documents have been provided, the Admission Committee will make a determination of readmission / reinstatement.  Students must wait until a decision is rendered and they are contacted by the Office of Admission before registering for classes with their advisor.

Readmission

If you left Holy Cross in good standing, and did not completely withdraw from your last semester of attendance, you may apply for readmission. Although there are no deadlines for readmission, you are encouraged to apply as early as possible in order to take advantage of early registration and academic advising. Readmission applications require approximately 10 business days for processing.

Readmission Deadlines:

  • Spring: January 10

This is done by submitting an application for reinstatement which includes a written statement explaining the circumstances leading to your dismissal and a proposed plan to remedy past difficulties. Additional information such as medical documentation, letters of reference and recommendations, etc., may be submitted to further explain the circumstances. Reinstatement applications require approximately 10 days for processing.

All applications for reinstatement are subject to review by the Dean of Faculty and/or the Dean of Students or their appointees.  The Dean(s) will make a recommendation to the Admission Committee regarding situations of academic or disciplinary dismissals.
