Notre Dame, IN (March 27, 2019) —Reverend David T. Tyson, C.S.C., President of Holy Cross College, along with College board Chairman David P. Bender, will attend the annual International Business Leaders Advisory Council in Rome on May 5, 2019. Bender also serves as chair for the Center for Ethics and Culture at the University of Notre Dame.
“I am pleased to have been invited to take part in this important council,” said Father Tyson. “Pope Francis’ mandate to provide high level education for stewardship by those preparing for financial management practices in the Church is vital to not only her future, but to her global credibility. It is a privilege to be among those attending the May meeting.”
Hosted by the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross Foundation, or Santa Croce, leaders of Catholic higher education will meet to discuss their goals in providing exceptional education and preparation for the ministry of the Church. Other college and university leaders in attendance will meet with Church leaders such as Cardinal James Michael Harvey, Archpriest of the Papal Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls.
The Pontifical University of the Holy Cross Foundation prides itself on its mission of “Training future leaders to serve the universal church.”
Chartered by John Paul II in 1984 as a pontifical athenaeum, Santa Croce was elevated to a pontifical university by a grant from Pope John Paul II in 1998. The University is open to priests, seminarians, religious and lay people, both men and women, from dioceses around the world.
