Psychology Concentration
Holy Cross College offers a Psychology concentration as part of the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies degree. The Psychology concentration at Holy Cross will provide the student with the opportunity to develop a comprehensive understanding of psychology. The psychology program features a core curriculum that emphasizes the scientific ad empirical bases of psychology. The goal of the program is to produce graduates with critical thinking skills based on their knowledge of the principles and methodology in psychology. The concentration will provide the background necessary to pursue graduate education as well the basic skills necessary for the practical application of psychological principles.
Students who choose to concentrate in the area of Psychology must complete 27 credit hours. Students must declare their intention to concentrate in psychology at the end of the first year of studies and must meet the following requirements: a 2.0 overall grade-point average and a 2.5 grade-point average in psychology. Following acceptance into the concentration program students may begin taking 300- and 400-level courses.

* Students entering HCC with a high school psychology course completed with a grade of B or better may choose PSYC 105 instead of PSYC 101.
Declaration of Intent to Concentrate in Psychology:
Declaration of the concentration in psychology must be made by application. Application forms may be obtained from Dr. Doris Van Auken, Ph.D. (Vincent 181). Students may submit an application to the concentration at the beginning of the sophomore year.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
C or better in PSYC101, and PSYC211
2.5 GPA in Psychology courses taken at Holy Cross College
2.0 Overall GPA at Holy Cross College
It is recommended that students begin enrolling in psychology courses in the freshman year and follow the pattern suggested below:
