Biography
Dr. Tina Holland was born in Washington, DC on August 31, 1961. In May 1983 she completed her Bachelor of Science Degree in General Engineering and Political Science at the United States Naval Academy, where she was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps. In December 1986 she earned a Master of Arts Degree in International Relations at the University of San Diego. Dr. Holland completed the requirements for the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, and Foundations at Indiana State University.
Dr. Holland has served in a number of leadership, teaching and administrative positions over the past 20 years. As a Marine she served as an aviation intelligence officer, specializing in tactical reconnaissance. At the conclusion of her service in the Marine Corps, she began her career as an educator, serving as a faculty member, academic advisor, and program director. In 2000 she was appointed Vice President for Student Affairs at Holy Cross College, Notre Dame Indiana.
Dr. Holland has presented her research on teaching developmental mathematics and advising at-risk college students for regional and national conferences. She has also been a guest speaker for professional organizations and student groups. She served on the board of the National College Learning Centers Association and has published her work on intrusive advising for at-risk college freshmen in The Learning Assistance Review. She is the recipient of the Indiana State University School of Education’s Office of Educational Research Award, the Fred A. and Joyce E. Snyder Scholarship Award, and the Adams Award for Outstanding Doctoral Thesis.
Dr. Holland is married to Peter Holland, and they have four wonderful children, Rebecca, Sarah, Rachel, and Jeremiah.
