HOLY CROSS COLLEGE ADDS ATHLETICS PROGRAM

HOLY CROSS COLLEGE ADDS ATHLETICS PROGRAM

It’s official. The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has approved Holy Cross College’s application for membership.

Holy Cross College students have had athletic opportunities on campus through intramural and club sports. But now, with the recent addition of athletic fields and a membership to the NAIA, the College can offer official intercollegiate competition. Joining the NAIA is also a major step in realizing the College’s mission to develop each student’s mind, body and spirit.

Holy Cross College Director of Student Activities and Athletics, Nathan Walker, says, “Holy Cross College students will certainly benefit from having an intercollegiate athletics program. Athletics will bring a real identity to the College, and bottom line, it’s just going to be a lot of fun.”

Walker says the NAIA is a hand in glove fit for the HCC Saints because of the organization’s commitment to promoting the education and development of students through intercollegiate athletics participation.

Holy Cross College is considered a part of Region VII and will be starting athletics competition with men’s and women’s cross country this fall.

Holy Cross College is raising money to build a student recreation center. Now that the College has athletics, the Saints need a home! The planned multi-million dollar facility will include locker rooms, a gym, a track, offices and an exercise room.
