HCC Merit-Based Scholarships FAQ
When will I be notified that I have received a merit-based scholarship award?
At the point of acceptance which can be as early as October of your senior year of high school if you choose to apply for admission early. Recipients of the Leadership Scholarship are usually notified after January 1 since this scholarship requires a separate application and essay.
Am I eligible to receive more than one merit-based scholarship award?
Yes. For example, it is possible to receive the Presidential, Trustee and Leadership awards if you meet the criteria for all three (plus the Brothers of Holy Cross Grant if you are graduating from a CSC sponsored high school).
I'm planning to retake the SAT I or ACT before I graduate from high school. If my composite score increases sufficiently, will my Trustee Scholarship be adjusted accordingly?
Yes. For example, if you initially received a $750 Trustee Scholarship based on an ACT composite of 24, but your score subsequently increases to 26, your scholarship will be increased to $1,000 annually.
Similarly, will my Presidential Scholarship be increased if my final high school cumulative GPA goes up?
Yes. For example, if you initially received a $750 Presidential Scholarship based on a seventh semester cumulative GPA of 3.40, but your final cumulative GPA is 3.50, your scholarship will be increased to $1,000 annually.
What is the maximum annual amount of merit-based scholarships that I can receive?
$5,000. For example, if you meet the criteria for the maximum amounts, you would receive a $1,500 Presidential , $1,500 Trustee, and $2,000 Leadership Scholarship ($500 extra for the first year if you happen to be a CSC high school graduate)
