Holy Cross College senior Eric Rosales and his family have owned and operated the South Bend Mexican restaurant and supermarket, Michoacán, for two years. To learn more about the successes and challenges faced by the Rosales family business, the students of MKTG 315 and I visited the restaurant Thursday, November 17. We met Eric’s father and sister and learned about local supply chain issues, costs of goods, and capital expenditures. In addition, we all enjoyed delicious authentic Mexican food and were given a personal tour of their attached supermarket by Eric. Eric said he plans to join his family in managing the restaurant and supermarket after graduation.

It was a great opportunity to learn more about the realities of small business ownership.
