Isaiah Moragne

Isaiah Moragne ’22 hails from Mishawaka, Indiana, and graduated in December 2022 with a bachelor’s in business.

“I have always had a passion for business and finance. I would spend my free time learning about these areas, so I knew I wanted to further my education within these subjects,” said Moragne about his decision to pursue business. “I want to continue in my efforts of developing resources for my community and further my education in finance so that I can provide education for others in my community who are destitute and do not have the resources that I have.”

Why Holy Cross College

“The deciding factor for me deciding to attend Holy Cross was every staff member’s appreciation for what I had done for my community,” noted Moragne. “Everyone I talked to about myself or an issue I see in the community genuinely cared about the problem and even offered advice on what they know regarding it. Every other tour of colleges I went on had nowhere near the personal interactions as I had here on campus before I even attended.”

College activities

“The organizations I am a part of are the Mishawaka Education Foundation (MEF) and Mishawaka Shiojiri Sister City Committee. I am one of the project leads for the MEF Gardening Sector, and a liaison for the Mishawaka Shiojiri Committee. I am involved in both of these because they are community and development focused,” said Moragne. “With the MEF, I spearheaded the fundraising, planning, and building of the MEF Public Greenhouse near the Battell Center in Mishawaka which provides free classes for people looking to extend their gardening skills and allows anyone to take food from the greenhouse if they please. With the Mishawaka Shiojiri Sister City Committee, I am revitalizing the lost relationship with my hometown and Shiojiri, Japan, to provide a cultural exchange between our two countries, especially with both of our high school communities.”

In July, he spent several weeks in Shiojiri, Japan, where he strengthened relationships and set up a cultural exchange division with both cities.

Impactful moment

“Traveling to Shiojiri, Japan, on the delegation trip was one of the most impactful 2 weeks of my life. It cemented within me the drive I have to develop relationships and opportunities for our communities. I’ve found what truly drives me from that trip, the ability to create experiences for people that last a lifetime,” recalled Moragne. “I found a second family for the rest of my life while over there, and I want as many people as possible to experience what I did during the trip.”

Next journey

“I want to continue in my efforts of developing resources for my community and further my education in finance so that I can provide education for others in my community who are destitute and do not have the resources that I have,” said Moragne.

Everyone I talked to about myself or an issue I see in the community genuinely cared about the problem and even offered advice on what they know regarding it.
