Jemmimah Mbuluku

From the Democratic Republic of Congo, Jemmimah Mbuluku ’21 received a Bachelor of Arts in business with minors in communications and visual arts. In the future, she would like to pursue a Master’s in Business Administration in the area of international business.

“During my three last years of high school, I took care of five of my younger siblings when we went to boarding school. That is when I became good at managing money – I enjoyed taking care of finances,” noted Mbuluku on what sparked her interest in the field of business. “Also, I have always wanted to be my own boss so I can do other things I am passionate about.”

Why Holy Cross College

“I chose Holy Cross College because as an international student, I needed a small community that would help me blend in easily while learning the language and the culture. It did make my experience go smoother,” said Mbuluku.

While on campus, she was involved with the Black Student Association.

“I got involved because I needed to be educated about what it is like living in the United States as a black person. As an African, I realized that there is so much we do not know about African Americans,” she said.

Memorable moment

“Praying together as a family before bed every night has impacted my life and shaped who I am today. It strengthened my faith and my relationship with my parents and siblings. After praying, one of my parents would tell us a story either from the bible or their childhood that would make us bond as a family and learn from their experiences,” recalled Mbuluku.

Up next

“I would like to discover my real passion through work and get experience from different places while learning from others and helping the most vulnerable ones. I would like to travel more and learn about other cultures. In the long run, I would like to create my own business so that I can take care of my other passions,” said Mbuluku.
