Neva Longhofer

Neva Longhofer ’24 comes to Holy Cross College from Overland Park, Kansas, and is a business major with a minor in both marketing and sports management.

“I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted to do when I entered college. I knew that a business degree would be versatile, and I could find something I was passionate about in the business world. During freshman year, I became interested in marketing, but I also wanted to stay involved in sports after I graduated. My internship this summer with the Ban Collegiate Baseball League sealed the deal on sports marketing for me,” notes Longhofer. “After I graduate, I would like to work in sports marketing. I chose sports marketing specifically because it makes a connection between players and fans. In typical marketing, there is a lack of connection between a company and its consumers. With sports marketing, fans are passionate about their teams, and it is your job to maintain their loyalty to your brand which I think will be both challenging and exciting.”

Holy Cross advantage

“When looking for a school, I always wanted to attend a small Catholic college and be able to play basketball. Holy Cross essentially offered me the best of both worlds. On my tour, the small class sizes and community feel really stuck out to me. My coach, Tom Robbins was also a huge part of my decision. I knew that he would support me in basketball, academics, and life throughout my 4 years here,” said Longhofer.

Campus activities

“I am a part of the women’s basketball team. I am also a part of the Student Government Programming Board where I serve as the chair of the Public Relations Committee. I got involved in Student Government to gain more experience in marketing and public relations,” said Longhofer.

Memorable moment

“In the fall of my senior year of high school, I was having a lot of anxiety about the future. I was unsure as to what I wanted to do and where I wanted to go to college. At that time, I had already gone on a few college visits but none of the schools felt right,” recalls Longhofer. “I eventually found Holy Cross and knew that it was where I belonged. I am incredibly grateful that during that time I had my parents to support me. Without their advice and guidance, I would have never found Holy Cross which has become one of my favorite places.”

Future plans

“After graduation, I plan to get my MBA. Beyond continuing my education, I have no specific plans, but I can’t wait to see what life has in store for me,” said Longhofer.
