Move-In and Welcome Weekend for New Students
Holy Cross College has announced a staged move-in to on-campus residence halls for new first year and transfer students to take place Friday, August 7, and Saturday, August 8, 2020. A morning and afternoon move-in and welcome session will be offered each day, and students will register for one session on one day.
Morning Session Schedule
8:00 a.m. ET: Campus and residence halls open for move-in
11:30 a.m. ET: Lunch and welcome session
12:30 p.m. ET: Programming ends
Afternoon Session Schedule
2:00 p.m. ET: Campus and residence halls reopen for move-in
5:30 p.m. ET: Dinner and welcome session
6:30 p.m. ET: Programming ends
A break between the sessions will allow for the cleaning of public spaces prior to the arrival of the next group of students and guests. Limited programming allows for guests to travel to and from campus on the same day.
After move-in is complete, students may begin residing in the residence halls overnight and on-campus dining will be available. Although there will be no additional programming for parents and guests after the welcome session, they are welcome to remain on campus if more time is needed to assist with move-in. Additional Welcome Weekend events are scheduled throughout the weekend for students only.
Students Not Living On Campus
Students who will not be moving in to an on-campus residence hall are strongly encouraged to attend one of the meals and welcome sessions. Parents and guests are welcome to join. There will be additional Welcome Weekend activities that will be required for all students, including those who will not be living in a residence hall.
New students can select a preferred date and session on the Campus Arrival form found on the Holy Cross Applicant Portal. Registration for a particular session will close if capacity is reached to allow for social distancing and reduce the total number of visitors on campus at the same time. Students can indicate the number of guests who will be joining them and list any dietary restrictions for meals.
Our Shared Responsibility for Health and Safety
All students and guests entering campus will be required to wear a face covering indoors and also outdoors when social distancing is not possible. To assist with social distancing, each student and his/her guests will be assigned a table to themselves for the meal and welcome session.
Prior to your arrival, Holy Cross College will be sharing important information about campus protocols, expectations, and procedures that have been developed to help ensure the safety of our community. It will be more important than ever to realize that our community is bound together in an effort to live as Scholars, Citizens, Leaders, and Disciples and we will all have a part to play in the living out of our common mission.
