Tucked along the tree-lined banks of the St. Joseph River, Holy Cross College offers more than a campus—it offers a kind of retreat. A place set apart for formation, discovery, and growth.
And while students have been away this summer—returning home, traveling abroad, or preparing to join us for the first time—the College has been quietly transforming. Not just with construction and upgrades, but with meaningful improvements that reflect a deeper truth: Holy Cross is on the rise.
Signs of Belonging
The first signs of change appeared in May as students departed. New banners now line campus walkways and entries, proudly bearing phrases like “It’s a Great Day to Be a Saint” and “Saints Today, Saints for All Eternity.”
These aren’t just slogans. They’re reminders—for students, visitors, and the South Bend community—that this is a place where identity, formation, and purpose go hand in hand.
A Field That Feels Like Home
At the athletic complex, phase one of a bold upgrade is complete—and it’s already changing the game. Towering lights now illuminate the soccer field, sleek fencing defines the space, and a brand-new scoreboard and audio system bring a fresh energy to every match.
But this transformation is about more than equipment. It’s about building pride, fostering school spirit, and creating a true home-field experience—for Saints athletes and the whole campus community.
A Bookstore Made for Connection
Inside Vincent Hall, another transformation has taken shape. On July 16, the Hammes Bookstore officially opened in its new home at the front of campus. What was once the campus security office is now a bright, purpose-built hub for students, families, and guests to pick up Saints gear, snacks, supplies—and feel part of the community from the moment they arrive.
This isn’t just a new space. It’s a new way of saying: you’re welcome here.
A New Hall, A Bold Vision
Just steps from the Pfeil Center and Vincent Hall, fencing now surrounds the construction site for Holy Cross College’s first new building in a decade. The residence hall, scheduled to open in Fall 2026, marks a major milestone in our growth—and a deep investment in student life.
More than just housing, the new hall reflects our belief in the power of living and learning in community. It will become a place of late-night conversations, quiet reflection, shared meals, and lifelong friendships.
