Dining

We spend lots of time in Siegfried Dining Hall

Students eating outdoorsWhether you’re gathering with friends for lunch, meeting a faculty member to share a meal and talk about your research, or grabbing a sandwich on your way to class, you’ll find the Siegfried Dining Hall staff inviting and the food delicious.

Executive Chef Cindy Coger and her team offer everything from fresh pizza, sandwiches, and stir-fry stations to a grill and a soup and salad bar. You’ll also find a tray of baked goodies next to the ice cream.

Find menu and nutritional information for items offered in Siegfried here. For students with food allergies, Chef Cindy created a new food allergen station.

Jocie Antonelli, Nutrition Services Program Director

Freshman 15 is real—but it doesn’t have to be

Whether it’s the initial transition away from home, or coping with the pressures of coursework and exams, students often need help developing healthy nutrition and eating habits.

Our nutrition services program director, Jocie Antonelli, is a registered dietitian whose high acumen in developing nutrition strategies is matched by the relationships she develops with students as she guides them toward making more healthful choices.

If you have a food allergy, celiac disease, or other special health condition, please review the Food Allergy and Medical Condition Action Plan.

If you’re interested in nutritional advising or have special dietary concerns, please contact Jocie at (574) 631-0106 or [email protected].

* Please note that sesame will be recognized as a major allergen beginning on 1.1.23. Campus Dining is actively beginning the process to label items that contain sesame.

**On occasion, due to supply chain issues or special chef creations, fluorescent starburst signs may be posted by an item. There will be a note indicating no food allergy or ingredient info is available. Those with food allergies or celiac disease should avoid these dishes or ask to speak with the chef for further information.

For those with Food Allergies, Gluten, or Other Dietary Restrictions

Please be advised that any food items deep-fried have the potential to be cross contaminated with allergens and/or gluten.  We do not have dedicated fryers for each item and multiple foods may be fried in the same oil.  If you have dietary restrictions, consuming fried foods may cause an adverse reaction. If you are unsure what items are fried, please ask.

Student meal plans

Residential meal plans
Included with your room and meals fee is the default On Campus 15 meal plan, which provides up to 15 meals per week in Siegfried Dining Hall and $175 in Basil Bucks per semester.

For students living at the University Edge, the University Edge 10 is included with your room and meals fee, providing up to 10 meals per week in Siegfried Dining and $100 in Basil Bucks per semester.

Additionally, in partnership with Notre Dame Campus Dining, students have the ability to purchase the Any Campus 19 meal plan, which:

  • Grants you 19 meals per week at Siegfried Dining Hall at Holy Cross College or North Dining Hall or South Dining Hall at the University of Notre Dame
  • Includes $100 in Basil Bucks per semester
  • Costs $625 per semester extra

Students can request to upgrade to Any Campus 19 at any point (with the $600 prorated), but after the add/drop date, no meal plan changes are permitted until the next semester.

To request an Any Campus 19 Plan upgrade, please email Dean Andrew Polaniecki. Your student account will be charged for the meal plan.

Commuter meal plans
Non-residential students can purchase commuter meal plans through Holy Cross College. These plans can be purchased at any time, but after the add/drop date, cannot be canceled until the next semester. The two commuter meal plan options are 10 meals per week for $1,125 per semester or 5 meals per week for $675 per semester.

Commuter students also have the option of purchasing 20 meals for $160 or 5 meal punch cards for $40.

To request the 20-meal, Commuter 5 or Commuter 10 meal plans, please email Marie Roy. Your student account will be charged. The 5-meal punch cards can be purchased at the front desk in the dining hall.

Basil Bucks are a Saint’s best friend
Basil Bucks are:

  • An extension of the on campus dining board plan
  • Accepted at Ave Brew Café, along with most Notre Dame Campus Dining locations (excluding Legends and Sorin’s)
  • Placed on your ID card at the beginning of each semester; any remaining balance expires at the end of each semester

Anyone (students or parents who have a parent portal created) wishing to add additional Basil Bucks onto their Holy Cross College account can do so by logging into the Portal.

On the homepage, under the Residence Life tab, click Purchase Basil Bucks. Under desired transactions drop box, select Basil Bucks Payment. Enter the desired amount and select submit payment. Click next to confirm the purchase. Then you will need to enter credit card information.

Basil Bucks will be added in one to two business days. All Basil Bucks expire at the end of each semester, so purchase wisely.
