Holy Cross College is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Andrea Welch as the new Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Engagement effective July 1, 2024. With nearly two decades of experience in higher education, Dr. Welch brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her new role.
“I am thrilled for the opportunity to become a member of the Holy Cross College community and their mission,” said Dr. Welch. “I look forward to promoting the distinctive traditions of the college and contributing to the supportive environment for students regarding access and success. It is an exciting opportunity to be part of an exceptionally dedicated team of students, staff, faculty, and leadership.”
Dr. Welch’s extensive background includes significant leadership roles at various institutions, including Indiana University South Bend, Ivy Tech Community College, Valparaiso University, Chicago State University, and most recently, Hiram College. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to enrollment management, student retention, and fostering a culture of student success.
At Indiana University South Bend, Dr. Welch served in positions within both student affairs and academic affairs, ultimately becoming the director of advising for the School of Education. Her tenure at Ivy Tech Community College saw her responsible for enrollment management and retention, where she successfully closed the gap of enrollment on the South Bend campus.
As Vice President for Enrollment Management at Chicago State University, Dr. Welch spearheaded the creation and implementation of a comprehensive strategic enrollment management plan. Her leadership resulted in significant improvements in admissions operations, financial aid, and registrar services.
During her time at Hiram College, Dr. Welch exceeded enrollment and student net tuition goals while implementing innovative marketing and branding strategies. She also played a pivotal role in developing retention strategies for academic support services, student affairs, and athletics.
Dr. Welch holds a Bachelor of Science in Interpersonal Communication from Ohio University — Zanesville, a Master of Science in Education in College Student Personnel from Ohio University, and a Doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from Indiana State University.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Dr. Welch is a passionate advocate for student access and success. She has mentored underrepresented student populations and is a frequent guest lecturer at national conferences, including the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) and NASPA-Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education
