Don Earl was close to finishing his associate’s degree at Holy Cross College (through the Moreau College Initiative) when he was transferred to South Bend Work Release. There, he not only continued his education through an internship with Unity Gardens, but also discovered a new stage—literally.

Don formed a band with fellow participants, and their first big break came when they performed at Unity Gardens’ summer barbecue. The performance caught the attention of organizers at Art Beat, South Bend’s largest community arts festival. Invited to play, Don and his band went on to win Best Performance Artist, a top honor awarded across all artistic categories.

Recently featured on Experience Michiana at Unity Gardens, Don is balancing his passion for music with his internship.
