Lydia Fell

Hailing from South Bend, Indiana, Lydia Fell ’23 is majoring in visual arts with a studio art track.

“I have been an artist as long as I can remember, always drawing and painting. So, if I can help it, I would love to have a career doing what I am passionate about and using my talents for the common good,” said Fell. She will continue her education by attending graduate school to earn a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in painting.

Why Holy Cross College

“My college choice was between Saint Mary’s and Holy Cross, and I preferred the feel of the Holy Cross arts department,” recalls Fell. “I felt like it was going places and I could really have an impact here.”

Campus involvement

“For the past two years I have been the president of the Holy Cross College Visual Arts Club. I helped found the group at the start of my sophomore year along with a few other art majors to strengthen the art community on campus and have more creative activities everyone could enjoy,” said Fell.

Impactful moment

“In high school during the summer of 2019, in between my junior and senior years, I was lucky enough to take a trip to Paris, Normandy, and London along with some of my classmates. That experience gave me a new sense of confidence and a reinvigorated passion for life and the arts,” recalls Fell.

Next journey

“Ultimately, my plan for the future is to work as an illustrator for children’s books and other media, exhibit and sell paintings, and possibly teach at the college level once I have my MFA,” said Fell.
