*Merit-based awards are not applicable to Gateway students.

  • All first-year and transfer applicants are automatically considered for merit awards.
  • The primary factor used to determine an applicant’s merit award is their GPA.
    • First-years students are evaluated using their high school GPA.
    • Transfer students are evaluated using their college GPA.
  • Admitted students who receive a merit award will be notified of the award and amount through their admitted student portal. Not all admitted students will receive a merit award.
  • Merit awards are renewable for up to 8 consecutive semesters of full-time enrollment, provided the student maintains a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
  • Students who submit the FAFSA may receive additional need-based aid in addition to their merit awards.
