Rachel Gomez

Rachel Gomez ’24 is from Mishawaka, Indiana and is majoring in history at Holy Cross College.

“I decided on history because I really enjoy learning about it and hope to focus on sports history,” said Gomez.

Why Holy Cross College

“What brought me to Holy Cross was the environment. When I came to visit, everyone was very nice and made me feel at home,” notes Gomez. “It was somewhere I knew I would be supported throughout my four years here.”

Campus involvement

“I am a member of Student Government as the Entertainment Committee Co-Chair. I got involved with this because I wanted to help create events that students would attend and meet new people. I wanted to help create a sense of community within the campus,” said Gomez. “I am also a member of the Latinos Unidos Club and am the Secretary. I got involved with this because I wanted to meet others who have similar cultures to me and find ways to share our cultures with the students. Finally, I am also a member of the women’s soccer team.”

Impactful moment

“One memorable moment that impacted my life was when I was elected as the Entertainment Co-Chair. I knew that I would have to step out of my comfort zone and get to know and work with new people and it has helped me form new relationships with those on campus. It helped me learn that I could be a member of the campus, even though I am a commuter,” recalls Gomez.

Up next

“In the future, I hope to work in a sports museum and continue to spread the joy of sports and how it came to be,” said Gomez.
