For Eva De La Rosa, a Holy Cross education has opened the door to a future she once thought was out of reach. Her journey reflects what becomes possible when a community believes in the potential of every student.
When Eva De La Rosa first arrived at Holy Cross College, she could not have imagined the opportunities that would one day be within her reach. Now, as graduation approaches, she is looking toward two exciting possibilities: beginning her professional career or pursuing a master’s degree. Having the opportunity to consider either path is something she once only dreamed possible.
“I never imagined I would be in a position to choose between two promising paths,” Eva shares.
Yet Eva’s journey is about more than the opportunities awaiting her after graduation. Through the experiences she embraced and the encouragement she received, she discovered her strengths, deepened her faith, and developed a sense of purpose that will guide her well beyond Holy Cross College.
Behind experiences like hers is a community of people who believe in what students can become and whose generosity helps make their growth possible.
Discovering What It Means to Lead
Throughout her time at Holy Cross College, Eva embraced opportunities that challenged her and helped her discover her potential. As a member of the women’s golf team, she developed discipline, perseverance, and dedication, while her involvement in campus life encouraged her to grow as a leader.
By co-founding the College’s DECA chapter, serving as a Resident Assistant, and bringing students together through Student Government, Eva gained confidence in her ability to make a difference. Yet some of her most meaningful moments came not from her own accomplishments, but from helping others succeed.
Through mentoring fellow students, she discovered the joy of encouraging someone through a challenge and celebrating their progress. What began as opportunities to get involved became experiences that shaped her understanding of leadership and taught her to recognize the potential in those around her.
A Community That Cares
As Eva grew in confidence, she also discovered something deeply personal about Holy Cross College: the genuine care of a community invested in who she was becoming.
During her time at the College, Eva received the Sacrament of Confirmation, marking an important step in her Catholic faith. As she prepared for and celebrated this milestone, professors, staff, friends, and fellow students offered their congratulations and shared in her joy.
Their encouragement left a lasting impression, making Eva feel welcomed, supported, and truly part of a community where people genuinely want the best for one another.
For Eva, Holy Cross College became more than a place to earn a degree. It was a community where she felt known and valued, and where her personal growth mattered as much as her academic success.
This sense of belonging is part of what makes a Holy Cross education distinctive, and it is a community that generous supporters help sustain for students like Eva.
Finding Purpose Beyond the Classroom
The lessons Eva learned through leadership, service, and faith also shaped how she approached her professional future.
During her internship with the Reyes Family of Businesses, she began to recognize that her work carried a responsibility beyond the numbers she analyzed. The data and reports she worked with could help inform decisions that supported the safety and well-being of employees, giving her a deeper appreciation for the people affected by her work.
That realization changed how Eva viewed professional success. She came to understand that meaningful work requires not only knowledge and technical ability, but also an awareness of how our decisions affect others.
Eva carried this perspective into her capstone work, reflecting on the responsibility to put people first while pursuing professional goals. Her experience brought to life the heart of a Holy Cross education: developing the competence to see and the courage to act, while preparing students to use their abilities in service to others.
A Future Once Out of Reach
As graduation approaches, Eva looks toward a future filled with possibilities that once seemed beyond her reach. Whether her next chapter begins in the professional world or through graduate study, she will carry with her more than the knowledge and skills she gained in the classroom.
She will carry the discipline developed through athletics, the confidence discovered through leadership, the faith strengthened by a caring community, and the understanding that some of life’s greatest accomplishments come through helping others succeed.
Looking back, Eva recognizes how deeply her Holy Cross experience has shaped her journey, and she is especially grateful to those whose generosity helps make opportunities like hers possible.
“Your generosity has opened a world of opportunities for students like me at Holy Cross College,” Eva shares. “Due to your generosity, I’ve been given opportunities and the ability to build a future that once felt out of reach.”
Her words are a reminder that the impact of a gift to Holy Cross College extends far beyond a student’s years on campus. It lives on in the confidence they carry into new challenges, the values that guide their decisions, and the ways they choose to serve others throughout their lives.
Eva’s story is still unfolding, but the opportunities she has embraced and the person she has become offer a glimpse of what is possible when a community believes in its students. With the continued generosity of people like you, more students can discover futures they once only dreamed possible.
