Scholarships


At Holy Cross College, we believe finances shouldn’t stand in the way of a college education. That’s why we offer a variety of scholarships and awards to help make a Holy Cross education more affordable. Many scholarships are based on academic achievement, involvement, leadership and other accomplishments—and they do not have to be repaid.

Merit Awards

All first-year, transfer, and international applicants are automatically considered for merit-based awards as part of the admissions process.

Tuition Exchange Program

Holy Cross is a member of the Tuition Exchange, which provides a reciprocal scholarship exchange program for eligible dependents of full-time faculty and staff among its members of over 600 colleges and universities located in 46 states and the United Kingdom. The majority of participating colleges offer only full-time remission for undergraduate degrees.

C.S.C. Legacy Scholarships

As a Congregation of Holy Cross (C.S.C.) institution, Holy Cross College values its connection to the Congregation and the relationships built among those who share in its mission. The C.S.C. Legacy Scholarship recognizes students whose families have supported and participated in the mission of the Congregation of Holy Cross.

Students admitted to Holy Cross College who have one of the following affiliations may be eligible for the scholarship:

  • Dependents of Holy Cross College alumni
  • Graduates of C.S.C.-affiliated high schools
  • Dependents of individuals employed by C.S.C. parishes, schools or organizations
  • Nieces and nephews of professed members of the Congregation of Holy Cross
  • Dependents of University of Notre Dame alumni
  • Dependents of Saint Mary’s College alumni

Award Amount: $5,000 per year
Renewability: Renewable for up to four years of full-time enrollment

The scholarship is subject to all Holy Cross College financial aid policies, including the maximum award policy and Satisfactory Academic Progress standards. Students participating in certain financial aid or enrollment programs are not eligible for this award, including, but not limited to, Notre Dame Employee Tuition Benefit recipients and Gateway Scholars.

The Holy Cross Brothers Scholarship

In honor of the Brothers of the Congregation of Holy Cross, Holy Cross College offers a renewable full-tuition scholarship to nominated graduating seniors from C.S.C.-affiliated high schools. This scholarship provides eligible students with the opportunity to begin their college journey at Holy Cross College with full tuition covered.

Students interested in this opportunity should consult their high school counselor for nomination and application details.

Requirements:

  • Students must have a minimum 3.2 GPA and demonstrate active involvement in their school and/or local community.
  • Each C.S.C. affiliated high school counseling department may nominate up to three students for the scholarship. Nominations must come from the student’s high school counselor.
  • Following nomination, students must apply for admission to Holy Cross College, submit the FAFSA, and provide a letter of recommendation from their high school counselor.
  • Once all requirements have been completed, the Holy Cross College Scholarship Selection Committee will review the nominees and select finalists.
  • Finalists will be invited to campus for a formal interview with the scholarship interview committee.

Timeline

  • October 24: All C.S.C high school counseling departments submit their nominees to the Holy Cross College Office of Admissions.
  • November 1: Nominees must submit their application for admission to Holy Cross College.
  • December 10: The Dean of Admissions notifies selected finalists and invites them to campus.
  • January 5: Nominees must submit the FAFSA.
  • February 1–2: Finalists visit campus for a formal interview with the scholarship interview committee during Basil Bash.
  • February 27: Scholarship awards are presented to selected recipients.

*ALL graduates of C.S.C affiliated high schools will receive a $5,000 C.S.C Legacy Scholarship renewable up to 4 years.

Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades Scholarship

In honor of Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades, shepherd of the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend, Holy Cross College will award one full-tuition, renewable scholarship to a student from each diocesan high school.

This scholarship provides selected first-year students with the opportunity to begin their college journey at Holy Cross College with full tuition covered.

Students interested in this opportunity should consult their high school counselor for eligibility and application details.
