Below are specific concentration areas at Holy Cross College. We invite you to check out details in each area and possibly participate in future lectures.

The Holy Cross Forum brings emerging scholars, students, and faculty into conversations which sharpen intellectual inquiry and spark curiosity. Each fall and spring, the Holy Cross Forum invites two advanced graduate students to share their research in a half-hour lecture, followed by a question and answer period. Participants represent disciplines across the humanities and social sciences. We welcome lectures on a broad variety of themes.

If you are interested in speaking at the Holy Cross Forum, please submit an application to Mark Kettler at [email protected], including a 300 – word abstract of your proposed talk, here. Applications for the Fall semester are due by 15 August. Applications for the Spring Semester are due by 15 December.

Each semester, Holy Cross College holds a talk for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community to enjoy.

 

Previous lectures:

John L. Allen Jr., author, journalist, and editor of independent news site Crux delivered the talk, “Rome is from Mars, America from Venus: The Cultural Gap between the Vatican and Main Street USA,” at Holy Cross College on March 21, 2019.

Pia de Solenni, Ph.D. delivered the talk “Women in the Body of Christ” regarding the role of women in the Catholic Church on the Holy Cross College campus October, 10, 2019.

Scott Hahn, Ph.D., nationally and internationally known for his talks on a wide variety of topics related to Scripture and the Catholic faith, delivered “It is Right and Just: Why the Future of Civilization Depends on True Religion” on April 24, 2021.

The Holy Cross College Mind & Heart Lecture Series “You Say You Want A Revolution: What the Hook-Up Culture Has Done to Women” by Anne Maloney, Ph.D., was Thursday, November 4, at 7:00 p.m. in Driscoll Auditorium.

“The Ministry of Exorcism,” is a talk by Father Vincent P. Lampert, Exorcist for the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.
