At the culmination of an emotional day on the campus of Holy Cross College, new students were officially welcomed into the campus community with the matriculation ceremony. The largest incoming class in school history walked through the Millennium Arch on campus, receiving high fives from their families, friends, and fellow students.
President Marco J. Clark told the students, “Consider the greatness of your mission and the wonderful amount of good you can accomplish. You are Saints today and Saints for all eternity.”
The College kicked off Welcome Weekend 2025, ushering in a new academic year and embracing the Class of 2029 with open arms. From move-in day to community-building activities, the weekend was filled with excitement, anticipation, and a strong sense of belonging.
First-year student Liv Bast, a neuroscience major, captured the spirit of the moment:
“I’m nervous and excited. I’m really excited to explore all the opportunities here and all the different fun electives they have. They have a really fun weekend planned for us…with lots of activities. So, I’m excited to get to know everybody.”
Liv’s enthusiasm was echoed across campus as students and families arrived, greeted by faculty, staff, and student leaders ready to help them settle in and feel at home. The weekend features a full slate of events designed to foster connection and introduce students to the vibrant life of Holy Cross—from icebreakers and games to campus tours and community meals.
During a special welcome for Moreau Scholars, Provost Michael Griffin offered words of inspiration and challenge:
“A very small percentage of the world is able to have the gift of a college education. You stand on the cusp of being in classrooms with amazing teachers. As Moreau Scholars, you will lead the way.”
