Move-In for New Students

Holy Cross College has announced a staged move-in to on-campus residence halls for new first year and transfer students to take place Friday, August 7, and Saturday, August 8, 2020. A morning and afternoon move-in and meal will be offered each day, and students will register for one session on one day. Students are asked to limit the number of guests traveling to campus with them; we recommend one or two guests per student.

Morning Session Schedule

8:00 a.m. ET: Campus and residence halls open for move-in
Check-in takes place in the Pfeil Athletic Center Lobby
11:30 a.m. ET: Lunch
12:30 p.m. ET: Morning session ends

Afternoon Session Schedule

2:00 p.m. ET: Campus and residence halls reopen for move-in
Check-in takes place in the Pfeil Athletic Center Lobby
5:30 p.m. ET: Dinner
6:30 p.m. ET: Afternoon session ends

A break between the sessions will allow for the cleaning of public spaces prior to the arrival of the next group of students and guests. Half-day sessions allow for guests to travel to and from campus on the same day.

After move-in is complete, students may begin residing in the residence halls overnight and on-campus dining will be available. Although there will be no formal programming for parents or guests during Welcome Weekend, they are welcome to remain or return on campus if more time is needed to assist with move-in. Above all, we ask our guests to use good judgment and observe social distancing within the residence halls during and after the assigned move-in session. Additional required Welcome Weekend events, beginning Saturday evening, are scheduled for students only.

Students Not Living On Campus

Students who will not be moving in to an on-campus residence hall are welcome to register for and attend one of the Friday or Saturday meals. One or two guests are welcome to join. There will be additional Welcome Weekend activities, beginning Saturday evening, that will be required for all students, including those who will not be living in a residence hall.

Registration

New students can select a preferred date and session on the Campus Arrival form found on the Holy Cross Applicant Portal. Registration for a particular session will close if capacity is reached to allow for social distancing and reduce the total number of visitors on campus at the same time. Students can indicate the number of guests who will be joining them and list any dietary restrictions for meals.

Our Shared Responsibility for Health and Safety

All students and guests entering campus will be required to wear a face covering indoors and also outdoors when social distancing is not possible. To assist with social distancing, each student and his/her guests will be assigned a table to themselves for the meal and welcome session.

Holy Cross College has shared with all new students important information about campus protocols, expectations, and procedures that have been developed to help ensure the safety of our community. Additionally, new students have been instructed to receive a COVID-19 test and have test results send to Holy Cross College prior to their arrival. COVID-19 testing instructions and a lab order have been sent via email to each new student’s Holy Cross email account. It will be more important than ever to realize that our community is bound together in an effort to live as Scholars, Citizens, Leaders, and Disciples and we will all have a part to play in the living out of our common mission.
